I grew up in a Christian family, the oldest of two children, yet I certainly didn’t fit the profile for the typical “first child” birth order traits. Traits like; structured, controlling, driven and dominant which seem to fit the majority of the first born, did not apply to me. I was more like a middle child with qualities like; people pleasing, relational, peacemaker and empathetic, and in retrospect these would be consistent with the choices to this point of my life. It makes sense looking back 25-30 years, that I would go to bible college and eventually become a pastor, what better way to help/care for people. When you add counseling to Pastoring/ shepherding, you end up with the answer to my primary question.
After serving 16 plus years in the same church, I felt it was time to move in another direction where counseling and coaching would fill the majority of my calling. I love it when working with a person or couple, seeing the light go on and watching as emotional, mental and psychological healing starts to take place, it truly is a God moment every time. Breathing Life International has provided for me the opportunity not only to counsel, teach and walk alongside others on their journey, but also to develop courses and curriculum that we can use to train others in counseling and coaching, and in doing so, multiply Kingdom work. When God allows us to partner in His work of bringing healing, setting the captives free ( Luke 4; 18-19 ) we get a glimpse of how God in us really is the ultimate answer to each of our primary questions. “The greatest revolution of our generations the discovery that human beings, by changing their inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives” —-William James This quote is even more true when we realize that it is the mind of Christ in the believer, is that what truly changes our inner attitudes. So come partner with us as we engage, encourage, equip and empower people for Kingdom work.
